I think the 2 main things I would expect, and that I feel are important in joining HMRC, are the willingness to learn new things and to be adaptable to change. I have been with HMRC for just under 2 years, and in that time in the same role, I have worked on 4 different Head Of Duty's (HOD's). It has been great to work on other HOD's, but also at times overwhelming and daunting as sometimes the moves have been quite short notice.
There is always plenty of support when you are asked to help on other HOD's and full training given so being adaptable to change is very important and something that I have had to work on myself.
