What support for personal development / training is provided?

It can vary between different business areas. But within Communications, there’s a dedicated learning and development team. They’re on hand to give specific support (if you want it) for example, they can help with identifying the right training and development for you. They also promote learning opportunities across the Communications community (such as webinars, specific training courses and qualifications) as well as secondment opportunities and job vacancies.

I did a degree-level qualification in Internal Communications through HMRC myself last year. Although I had to commit some of my own time (outside of work) to it, it wasn’t onerous and I was fully supported by my manager, HMRC and the training provider.

So, in answer to your question, I’d confidently say there are ample opportunities to develop yourself and your career.
