Assistant Director, Compliance Strategy
I remind myself what is important to the department and check that I am adding value at all times. This last point is really important to help me avoid being swamped with meetings and different projects and also protects my credibility with colleagues. However, there are times when being swamped is unavoidable, so I use a couple of methods to manage the quality of my work:
1. The Eisenhower Matrix - I am very strict with asking if the work is urgent and important, this then helps me decide what to focus on
2. 30/60/90 feedback approach - I don't wait until I believe I've completed the work before I seek feedback. Examples of when I seek feedback are (30%) is my high level concept on the right path, (60%) first draft and (90%) is there anything else I've missed. This helps avoid what is know as the 'Seagull Effect' if I had waited till 90% before getting feedback.
