Working for the civil service for over 20 years and across multiple government departments I would say one of the most unique things about being a civil servant are the opportunities available to you.
Some examples I believe are unique are the opportunities to apply for a range of different roles which offer fantastic career paths, the flexibility of our working hours linked with our ability to manage our time and leave in a very unique way, something that is not always available outside of civil service.
Lastly I would like to mention the learning and development opportunities we offer, if you have a career path in mind or want to develop yourself in areas outside of the work you do, gain official qualifications (recognised outside of civil service) the support and material available has no limit.
