From Banking to Talent Management with a degree in Psychology
I started my career in Banking which was a bit of a family trait and went from Personal Banking to Mortgage Advice before seeking a career change and moving into Agency Recruitment where I specialised in Senior positions within the Finance and Accountancy field. After 7 years in Agency I joined HMRC and have never looked back. It's a fantastic place to put my experience to use and affect real positive change through the people profession.
I run our permanent Cyber Security, Finance and Data recruitment
I work with Managers and Senior Stakeholders across HMRC Security, CDIO Finance, CT&DO and Data departments to secure the very best talent available on the market for vacancies within those teams. I'm heavily involved in these campaigns from initial authority to recruit right the way through to offer and take up duty and everything in between. I focus my work primarily on ensuring an excellent candidate journey and obviously a successful recruitment campaign through strategic management of the vacancy and a creative approach to promoting it to the external market.

Know what you want, but don't be afraid to change your plan
We'd all like a salary increase, or to work fewer hours, or have a great job title, but how realistic these are and how any of us achieves them will vary hugely from person to person. Careers aren't straight roads from A to B to C to D, they're meandering and will sometimes contain a roundabout or stop sign. Knowing what you want from your next move is really important but don't be afraid to change your plan. A sideways move to a different department or even employer might speed up your progression exponentially as opposed to waiting and only moving for a promotion.
