What greats did you discover since working at HMRC that surprised you and still exists today?

If you mean specifically within Communications, I was surprised by the focus on learning and development and there's still as great a focus today. It's really taken seriously and so is your career progression.

But, you do need to make sure people (such as your manager and their manager) know you want to develop your career or do some specific training. In the past, I've been guilty of sitting there and waiting for it to happen - it won't, you need to be proactive.
