Additional information

I’ve completed all of my pre-employment checks for the role of Customer Service but haven’t received any further communication yet. Does anyone know what the next steps might be? Also, who would be the best point of contact for an update? I’m eager to get started and would appreciate any guidance.

Your best point of contact will be the vacancy holder [email protected]– Use the subject line to insert appropriate wording for example – Full name, campaign number and location. There are several campaigns running at the moment in Customer Services, so there may be a delay in responding. Please be assured that they will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your response @Bal ..

It has been over a week since I sent the email, but I haven’t received any reply yet. Do you have any idea how long it usually takes for the vacancy holder to get in touch after the pre-employment checks are completed? I remain very interested in the position and would appreciate any updates or guidance on the expected timeline.

Congratulations on completing all your pre-employment checks – that's a significant milestone in your journey to joining the Civil Service. It's understandable to feel uncertain when there's a gap in communication after this stage.

Based on my experience with Civil Service recruitment processes, there can sometimes be a period of silence between completion of checks and receiving your formal offer letter or start date information. This is typically due to:

- HR teams processing multiple candidates simultaneously

- Operational teams preparing for your arrival (equipment, access, induction planning)

- Final internal approvals being processed

- Coordination between central HR and the hiring department

I would recommend:

1. You could send a further polite follow-up email to your recruitment contact, acknowledging that your checks are complete and inquiring about expected next steps and timeframes

2. Be prepared to provide your availability for start dates when they do make contact

3. Keep checking your email regularly, including spam/junk folders

The Civil Service recruitment process is thorough but can sometimes move at a measured pace - unfortunately we do not have set timescales for you. Thank you for being patient as you navigate this final stage before joining.
