From video game retail to HMRC

Started as a Christmas temp at a video game retail store, quickly became an Assistant manager, but realised I had reached my ceiling. Moved over to HMRC for new challenges and incredible opportunities for development and progression.

I am currently a Customer Service advisor working in Debt Management. I spend my day trying to balance supporting those who have fallen behind with their liabilities to HMRC and ensuring that public services are still funded.

I have found that I spend most of my day either supporting customers or colleagues who need extra help, which I love.

They want to know who YOU are, not who you think they want.

Employers want to know who YOU are, your strengths/weaknesses and your personality. They aren't interested in any "version" of your self that you feel you need to display, it will become very obvious that it isn't the real you.
